How you got into football: Watching the NFL. We had a men’s team where I lived that had been around for 20 something years, some women were trying out for LFL and I thought … why not? I tried out and made the LFL team, but decided that full contact, full kit was more my thing. I was one of the first ladies to play football in Australia.
Family: Partner (Cassey Brick – Previously Team USA now Team Canada – YEP play each other first game LOL); 2 sisters (1 older; 1 younger) and mum and dad back home in Australia and 2 adorable nephews and a niece. My nickname Ace actually comes from the fact that at a young age my nephews couldn’t say Trace so they would say “Ace”
In Her Own Words:
I am from a small town in Australia, just outside of our Nation’s Capital. I grew up on a large piece of property, loving open spaces, and a sense of freedom and endless imagination. My “pets” were cows and sheep. I moved from the country to the seaside, and for the next 15 years enjoyed a chilled, summer life all year round. Fast forward again and here I am calling Chicago my new home. This city is beautiful!
From the moment, I tried out for my first football team I was hooked. I loved the physicality of it, the intellectual nature of the game, but more than that, I loved the comraderie and sense of unity it gave me from the beginning. I’d love to look back in 10 years and see the game and its players charging ahead breaking even more boundaries. Being selected for the Australian National team is such an honor. I still choke up a little when I imagine our first game in June, standing there hearing our anthem, looking to my left and right at the brilliant & gutsy women — all on the same mission.
I feel so blessed to have been giving the opportunity to take my game to Chicago and play in now my second season for the Chicago Force. The organization, the players, the coaches, are second to none. I can truly say I understand the term, “The family you chose.”
This upcoming Womens World Championships will be something even more special for my Chicago Force family, as we will have players and coaches representing three different teams this year (USA, Canada & Australia) It will be EPIC!
